There's more than a touch of Terry Gilliam to the animated anarchy from Nir Matarasso, who isn't afraid to throw highbrow art into the mix. The Last Supper becomes a snort-fest, while Andy Warhol's soup cans stack up in Shalev's kitchen and Grant Wood's American Gothic pair find themselves on a fairground ride.

"The King of Khat" is a very cool movie that really stands for me out because of the style of how it was made. It's all about this inventor, who's super smart and ends up making some of the most famous legal drugs around. The way the film maker uses animation, reminiscent of Monty Python, makes the film look like something out of a comic book."

It’s obvious to anyone even remotely aware of the status of drug policy that there are huge incoherencies built into how modern society relates to and regulates psychoactive substances at national levels and globally. And while there have been several recent attempts to delve into this complex and highly polarized topic in popular culture, this fascinating documentary provides a unique perspective that is both wildly entertaining
and profoundly thought provoking.
